The two sides were evenly matched.

In fact, it was so even that it took regulation, overtime and the ninth phase of penalty kicks to decide it.

In the end, top seed Ben Franklin outlasted No. 4 East Jefferson 8-7 in the ninth round of penalty kicks after the two sides had played to a 1-1 tie.

It was the second win for Ben Franklin over East Jefferson this season.

Ben Franklin (21-3-3) advances to the state title match to face No. 2 St. Thomas More, who downed No. 3 Archbishop Rummel 1-0. Ben Franklin last won a state title in 2014.

St. Thomas More got the lone goal of the showdown with Rummel on a header by Noah Bloom off a throw in late in the first half and the Cougars made it stand up. The Raiders had beaten St. Thomas More 2-1 in the regular season.

In Division III, fourth-seed The Willow School stunned top seed University Lab, winning on penalty kicks after the two sides played to a scoreless tie through regulation and overtime.

The Lions (16-4-5) advance to the final to take on No. 2 Bossier, who downed No. 3 St. Louis Catholic 1-0.

The Rebels tied it on a goal by Ariana Lowenstein before Madison Busque scored what turned out to be the winning goal to make it 2-1. Shea Lacombe added an insurance goal.
